Description

A Classic with a Twist

The Leather Classic Tote bag is handcrafted using the finest rescued leather accentuated by our signature decommissioned fire-hose and finished with a reclaimed cotton lining from Burberry Mills. A great all day bag for those that like to carry more. Designed to be held in the hand or carried over the shoulder, our leather Tote bag has an inside zip pocket and 2 additional poacher-style pockets.

What can you fit in there?

Being the same size as our full fire-hose Tote Bag it is large enough to keep everything you need for a day out: iPad or laptop, phone, purse, keys, reusable water bottle, lunch box, book, scarf and flats.

The Leather Tote Bag is crafted through a transformation of leather fragments from the production of Burberry leather goods. Our craftsmen individually cut and hand weave, piece by piece, these otherwise lost scraps of leather into whole new hides. The Fire & Hide Collection is the sumptuous blend of our signature fire-hose and rescued leather. The limited nature of our rescued materials means we can only ever create a few pieces in each variation.

You can learn more about our leather partnership here.

We are excited to be able to offer so many variations of the Leather Tote Bag. Every option includes handles and trim in Elvis & Kresse's signature decommissioned fire-hose, which was previously deployed in active duty for up to 25 years, fighting fires around the UK.

THE FIRE & HIDE COLLECTION

In 2005 we fell in love with London's decommissioned fire-hose. Determined to save it from landfill we took this lifesaving material home, gave it a second chance, and vowed to donate 50% of the profits to the Fire Fighters Charity. But fire-hose was just the beginning.

Every year, 800,000 tonnes of leather ends up on the cutting room floor. Our leather partners cherish their hides, but no matter how carefully they cut their patterns, there will always be small seemingly unusable offcuts. To rescue this leather we developed a unique modular approach. We hand weave these fragments into whole new hides then lovingly recraft them into sustainable luxury bags and accessories. Our commitment to rescuing British fire-hoses remains the same, the trim, handles and internal detailing of the Fire & Hide range are all made from genuine decommissioned fire-hose. And we continue to donate 50% of profits to charity.

Our Fire & Hide Collection represents a whole new kind of luxury. One that is sustainable, ethical, transparent, generous and kind.

50% of profits donated

Since 2005 we have been rescuing seemingly useless materials and lovingly handcrafting them into sustainable luxury bags and accessories. Every year since, Elvis & Kresse have donated 50% of the profits to charities related to those raw materials. 50% of the profits from the Fire & Hide Collection are donated to Barefoot College International and The Fire Fighters Charity.

Testimonials

I’m glad I can tell you directly how much I LOVE my new bag.

I’m a writer, and tend to tote quite a bit of stuff around with me. It’s the perfect size for my laptop, an A4 notebook, pencil case, purse, water bottle, etc AND it zips up for security. AND it stands up on its own. AND the straps are the perfect length for going over my shoulder as well as carrying on my arm. AND I don’t have to feel guilty about the leather that went into it. AND the silk protector bag is ideal to pop inside for emergency shopping. AND the fire engine red colour goes with everything. It’s the best bag I’ve ever owned.

(And now you’ve given me a great reason to order a matching purse…)

Best of all, I like the fact that it recycles something with real meaning, and that you support a very worthwhile charity. A friend of mine is a firefighter and laughed when she saw the Angus logo, and said she hoped it didn’t leak! (She asked for the website link, of course.)

So thanks for making my new forever favourite bag. It brings me joy every day.

Victoria

In 2019 after dating (and unfortunately marrying) some real frogs, I met my prince who turned out to be amazing in more ways than I could have ever imagined. One of the greatest things about him was that he immediately accepted how important my Volunteer Fire Department was in my life, and began helping me meet some long term goals in my firefighting and EMT career. After we became engaged, he even joined our department and now works hard for our community right alongside me. But besides the beautiful family owned engagement ring he gave me, the other gift that told me he understood me better than anyone ever has, was my Elvis & Kresse Tote and Travel Wallet I got for Valentine’s Day last year. I tell anyone I can about the amazing company that made my handbag and wallet and how they are truly changing the world. Thank you for letting me carry something beautiful even when in uniform, that I know is helping our planet and helping other firefighters through your charity contributions.
