Description

Where there is smoke...

This is our Tooley Tote Bag, named after a fire which started in 1861 on Tooley Street that burned for two weeks and ultimately led to the creation of London's first fire brigade.

This is a large, roomy and sustainable tote bag with a single shoulder strap that will allow you to wear it long and slouchy or tight and under the arm. In order to deliver some crucial internal organisation there is a zip pocket on one side and two poacher style pockets on the other.

Every option includes handles and trim in Elvis & Kresse's signature decommissioned fire-hose, which was previously deployed in active duty for up to 25 years, fighting fires around the UK.

The ethically made Tooley Tote bag MK III is available in our Classic Red, our Rare Yellow, and the limited Print Room version - an elegant combination of our signature decommissioned fire-hose and reclaimed printing blankets, re-engineered to create a visually stunning matt black textile that is strong and beautiful to the touch.

THE FIRE-HOSE COLLECTION

We fell in love with London's decommissioned fire-hose back in 2005 through a chance encounter with the London Fire Brigade. We took this lifesaving material home determined to breathe new life into it and save it from its otherwise inevitable end in landfill.

Our Fire-hose pieces are more than just a collection, they represents a whole new kind of luxury. One that is sustainable, ethical, transparent, generous and kind.

Printing Blanket Range

We also offer a Printing Blanket version of our classic pieces. They are made from reclaimed printing blankets, rescued from the printing industry, and combined with our signature decommissioned fire-hose. The re-engineered black printing blanket creates a visually stunning textile that is strong and beautiful to the touch. This version maintains all the design features of the full fire-hose versions.

50% of profits donated

Since 2005 we have been rescuing all of London's retired fire-hose by lovingly handcrafting them into sustainable luxury bags and accessories. Every year since, Elvis & Kresse have donated 50% of the profits from the Fire-hose Collection to The Fire Fighters Charity. This heroic material, once used to save lives, gets a second chance to keep giving back.

Testimonials

Just a quick note to say how delighted I am with my E&K bag. I've been through about five work bags in the last three years and none of them have been strong enough for everything I have to lug around. My new E&K bag has been perfect - and the fact that it's water proof and leather-free makes it even better. I'm delighted with it. Best wishes. Claire

I’ve been biding my time waiting for “my” item... My dad was a fireman in the 1950s and 1960s - today would have been his 90th birthday and you show the very thing I’m looking for!!! How do I get the Tooley Tote? Please?
